Baby Trump in Calexico

On April 5th, 2019, Backbone San Diego brought their giant balloon featuring a caricature of President Donald Trump as a baby, complete with phone in hand, to Calexico, CA, where the president was scheduled to have a meeting with border agents and inspect a section of the wall. Both opponents and supporters of President Donald Trump met at a strip mall in anticipation of his arrival. A group of protesters (Binational March for Unity, held by local residents), welcomed President Trump, wanting to convey to him that the issues plaguing the area were not of illegal immigration, but rather one of pollution, unemployment, and lack of priority for education. During the demonstration, students and community members planted sunflowers to symbolize peace.
